Dr Dharshini was born in the United Kingdom and was educated in Singapore. She graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS), with a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery.

She subsequently went on to obtain her Masters in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and became a Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (United Kingdom). She is also a Member of the Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society of Singapore (OGSS) and Member of the Singapore Medical Association (SMA).

After graduating from NUS, Dr Dharshini was trained at the National University Hospital (NUH) and KK Women’s & Children’s Hospital (KKWCH). She took time off during her Obstetrics and Gynaecological training to join the Department of Neonatology (NUH) to train in the valuable skills of Neonatological Resuscitation to better equip herself for the Obstetrics aspect of her practice. Dr Dharshini has trained and worked with the Dept of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, National University Hospital since 2001 prior to joining Sincere Women's Health Centre.

Dr Dharshini is dedicated to teaching medical undergraduates and young doctors, and was a Clinical Teacher and Examiner with the Dept of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, NUS. She has conducted Clinical Skills workshops to train medical students and young doctors in Obstetrics management. She also conducted Contraceptive workshops to teach trainee Gynaecologists in the applications of various contraceptive devices. In addition, she was made Chief Registrar in 2011 and was involved in administrative issues pertaining to junior doctors.

An avid orator, Dr Dharshini regularly participates at local and international O&G conferences. She has presented her Research works on Urogynaecology, Sexually transmitted infections and Contraception at International Conferences in Greece, Beijing and Kuala Lumpur. She won the first prize for Oral Presentation at the SICOG (Singapore International Congress on Obstetrics and Gynaecology) in Aug 2011 for her paper on Encephalitis related to Ovarian Dermoid cysts. She has also published on the incidence of Chlamydia Trachomatis in post-abortion females in Singapore, and is a pro-life advocate.

Dr Dharshini is experienced in antenatal ultrasound as well as performing natural childbirth, assisted delivery (vacuum and forceps) and Caesarean Sections. She has extensively trained in gynaecological surgery (hysterectomies, myomectomies, cystectomies), laparoscopic (key-hole) procedure and has a keen interest in Hysteroscopic surgeries (a non-invasive procedure to surgically treat small masses within the womb).

Dr Dharshini firmly believes that a woman's gynaecologist should be her trusted health advocate for life as she goes through the amazing phases of puberty, pregnancy and menopause. She has a special interest in managing menstrual abnormalities, adolescent gynaecological issues, fertility challenges, female sexual dysfunction and menopause care. She is a strong advocate of regular women's health screening as well as preventive care involving early resolution of Fertility issues, HPV vaccines and routine pap smears to prevent Cervical Cancer, as well as Osteoporosis prevention and maintenance of cardiovascular health in menopausal patients.

A proud mother of three beautiful girls, Dr Dharshini knows of the immense joys that motherhood can bring. She exclusively breastfed all her babies (including her twins!) for their first 6 months and strongly believes that a strong and positive support system can ensure that a mother enjoys a wonderful pregnancy, a natural childbirth and successful breastfeeding thereafter.
